Can You Watch TeraBox Videos Offline? How Saving Really Works
29 October 2026 · 2 min read
Streaming needs internet; a saved file doesn't. How to save a video for a flight or a train, where it lands on each device, what TeraBox's own offline feature does and doesn't do, and how much space it all takes.
Streaming vs saving, in one paragraph
Streaming fetches the video as you watch; close the tab and it's gone, and it needs a connection the whole way through. Saving downloads the whole file to your device once; after that it plays with no internet at all, as many times as you like. For a commute, a flight, or a place with bad signal, you want saving.
How to save a video for offline watching
- Paste the link into our player and press play.
- Tap Download under the video.
- Wait for it to finish — the file is the original, so it's the full size.
Do this on Wi-Fi. A 2-hour film at 480p is ~420 MB; at 1080p ~1.4 GB.
Where the file goes on each device
- Android: Downloads folder. Play it from the Files app, or move it to
Moviesto see it in your gallery. - iPhone: Files → Downloads. Play it from there, or Share → Save Video to put it in Photos.
- Computer: Downloads. Any player.
TeraBox's own offline feature and its catch
The TeraBox app has an "offline" option for files in your account. It needs the app, an account, and the file to be in your cloud (you'd "save to my cloud" first). It also keeps the file inside the app's own storage, so other players can't open it, and it's gone if you uninstall. For something a friend sent, downloading the plain file is simpler and the file is yours.
Planning ahead for a flight or a train
- Download the night before, on Wi-Fi, plugged in.
- Open the file and skip to the end before you leave, to make sure it's complete. A download that stopped silently at 90% is a bad discovery at 30,000 feet.
- Put a proper player on the phone — VLC or MX Player — in case the file's format isn't one your gallery app plays.
Keeping saved videos organised
Make a folder (Videos/Offline, say) and move downloads into it. Delete them when you're done; video eats storage faster than anything else on a phone.
How much space videos take
Same numbers as data: roughly 210 MB per hour at 480p, 420 at 720p, 720 at 1080p. A 64 GB phone with 20 GB free holds about 90 hours at 480p. Plenty, but it adds up — keep an eye on it.
Common questions
Can the browser player work offline?
No — it's a website. What works offline is the file you downloaded, in any video app.
Will the downloaded file expire?
No. It's yours. Links expire when senders change things; files on your phone don't.
Can I download at a lower quality to save space?
Not currently; Download gives the original. If space is tight, keep the file only as long as you need it.
