How to Open a TeraBox Link on Android Without Installing Anything

29 October 2026 · 3 min read

Chrome keeps bouncing the link to the TeraBox app, or to the Play Store. Here's how to stop that for good, play in the browser, save to your gallery, and watch in a floating window while you do other things.

The 30-second version

Long-press the link → Copy. Open teraboxsync.com in Chrome. Paste, play. You never visit TeraBox's page, so nothing bounces you anywhere.

That's the whole trick, and it's the one to use. The rest of this page is for when Android gets in the way anyway.

Stopping Chrome from opening the TeraBox app

If you have the app installed, Android may open every TeraBox link in it automatically — even links you'd rather view in the browser. That's an Android "default app" setting, not something TeraBox controls:

  1. Settings → Apps → TeraBox → Open by default (the wording varies by phone: "Set as default", "Supported links").
  2. Turn off Open supported links, or clear the defaults.

Now links open in whatever browser you use. You can still open the app yourself when you want it.

Clearing "Open with" defaults

Sometimes Android remembers a choice you made once in an "Open with…" dialog. Same place: Settings → Apps → the app in question → Open by default → Clear defaults.

Playing in Chrome, and in Firefox

Both work equally well. Firefox on Android has one advantage: its extensions can block the ad networks on other TeraBox tools. Our player has no ads, so it makes no difference here. Samsung Internet and Brave are fine too.

If you have a strict content blocker that stops the video loading, allow the site — some blockers block the stream itself rather than ads.

Saving to your gallery

Tap Download under the player. Chrome puts it in the Downloads folder. To see it in your gallery app, move it to Movies or DCIM with any file manager — most gallery apps only scan those folders. More in the download guide.

Picture-in-picture while you do other things

Start the video, then press the home button (or swipe up). On Android 8 and later, Chrome shrinks the video into a floating window you can drag around while you reply to messages. Tap the PiP icon in our player to do it on purpose.

Android-specific problems

  • "Format not supported" on a budget phone. The file uses HEVC or AV1 and the phone can't decode it. Pick a lower quality from the gear icon, or download and open in MX Player. Full explanation.
  • Chrome's Data Saver / Lite mode breaking video. Turn it off for the site; it mangles streams.
  • Battery saver stutters. Android throttles video decoding in battery saver. Turn it off while watching.
  • The link opens in the Play Store. The sender's link is to the app listing, not a file. Ask for the share link (it has /s/1 in it).

Common questions

Do I need Chrome specifically?

No. Any modern Android browser works.

Can I watch TeraBox links on Android without any data?

Not while streaming, but you can download on Wi-Fi and watch offline later. Offline guide.

Is there an Android app for TeraboxSync?

No, and we're not planning one. The whole point is that your browser is already enough. You can add the site to your home screen from Chrome's menu if you want an icon.
