Find your error message
Jump to the one you're seeing:
- "This file is not shared" / "Link is private"
- "Link has expired" / "Share link does not exist"
- "Please open in the TeraBox app"
- The page loads forever
- "Password required"
- The link opens but the video is missing
- "That's not a TeraBox link"
Nearly all of these are decided by the sender, not by you or your phone. The last section has a message you can send them.
"This file is not shared" or "Link is private"
What it means: the file exists, but the sender shared it only with named people, or turned sharing off after sending.
Fix: only the sender can change this. They need to open the file in TeraBox, tap Share, and choose Anyone with the link. Send them the message at the bottom of this page.
"Link has expired" or "Share link does not exist"
What it means: the sender deleted the file, moved it to another folder (which breaks the old link), or cancelled the share. TeraBox links don't time out by themselves — more on that.
Fix: ask for a new link. If they've deleted the file, there's no recovering it from your end.
"Please open in the TeraBox app"
What it means: nothing is wrong. TeraBox's mobile page shows this to everyone to push the install.
Fix: you don't need the app. Copy the link and paste it into a browser player. Our no-app guide covers the alternatives.
The page loads forever and nothing happens
What it means: either TeraBox is slow right now (common in Indian evenings), the file is very large and their preview is still being generated, or your connection dropped partway.
Fix: wait ten seconds, then refresh once. If it's still spinning, try the link in our player — we fetch the video differently and often succeed where their page stalls. If that also spins, it's TeraBox's side; try again in a few minutes.
"Password required"
What it means: the sender protected the share with a code. It's usually four characters, and it's often in the same message as the link.
Fix: look in the sender's message for something like Code: abcd or pwd: 1234. If it isn't there, ask. Our player doesn't bypass passwords — nobody's should.
The link opens but the video is missing
What it means: one of three things. The link is a folder (you'll see a list of names, not a player). The file is a format their preview can't render (an .mkv, say). Or the share is for a file that has since been replaced.
Fix: for a folder, pick the file from the list — on our player they appear as tabs above the video. For an unusual format, the download button still works even when the preview doesn't; grab it and open in VLC. For a replaced file, ask for a fresh link.
"That's not a TeraBox link"
What it means: you've pasted something that isn't from a TeraBox domain. Shortened links (bit.ly and friends) and links from "mirror" sites can trip this.
Fix: open the short link once in your browser and copy the address it lands on. The real link will contain /s/ followed by a code. Here's every domain that works.
How to ask the sender for a working link
Copy and send. In English:
Hi! The TeraBox link you sent says it isn't shared publicly. Could you open the file, tap Share, choose "Anyone with the link", and send me the new link? Thanks!
In Hindi:
नमस्ते! आपने जो TeraBox लिंक भेजा था, वह "not shared" बता रहा है। क्या आप फ़ाइल खोलकर Share → "Anyone with the link" चुनकर नया लिंक भेज सकते हैं? धन्यवाद!
If you're the one who does the sending, our guide to sharing TeraBox links properly stops this happening in the first place.
Common questions
Can a player bypass a private link?
No. A private link isn't a technical obstacle, it's a permission. Any tool claiming otherwise is either lying or doing something you don't want to be part of.
The link worked yesterday. Why not today?
The sender changed something — moved the file, re-shared it, or deleted it. Links are stable unless the file isn't.
The same link works for my friend but not for me
Usually a password: they have it, you don't. Occasionally a regional block, which a different connection (Wi-Fi vs mobile) sometimes gets around.
