TeraBox Download Failed or Stuck at 99%? How to Finish It

29 October 2026 · 3 min read

Why downloads die near the end, how to resume instead of restarting, the storage problem that hides behind "99%", and the one check that saves you from deleting a link you still needed.

Why downloads fail near the end

Because "near the end" is when the file is biggest on disk. A download that stops at 99% has almost always hit one of two walls: the phone ran out of storage, or the browser's download hit a size limit it won't say out loud. Both look like a stall rather than an error.

Less often: the connection dropped and the browser gave up rather than resuming, or the TeraBox link behind the download went stale during a very long transfer.

Fix 1: Resume instead of restarting

Press Download again under the player. Chrome, Safari and Firefox all try to continue an interrupted download from where it stopped rather than starting over — our server supports that. On Android, the download notification often has a Resume button. Don't delete the partial file first; that's what it resumes from.

Fix 2: Storage space you didn't know you were short of

The classic 99% case. Phones reserve a chunk of storage for the system, and "2 GB free" can mean "200 MB usable" for a download. Check Settings → Storage. Clear the browser's cache, delete old downloads, or empty WhatsApp's media folder, then resume.

Fix 3: Browser download limits

Chrome on Android has, in some versions, silently struggled with single files over about 2–4 GB. Safari on iPhone can stop a download when the phone sleeps. For very large files: keep the screen on, plug in, and use Wi-Fi — or download on a computer and transfer.

Fix 4: The link expired mid-download

Rare, but on a multi-hour download the temporary address behind it can lapse. Resume (Fix 1) gets a fresh one and continues. If resuming fails outright, press play on the video again to refresh the link, then Download.

Fix 5: Use a download manager for big files

On a computer, Free Download Manager (free) or IDM (paid) handle interruptions automatically and can download in parallel chunks, which smooths out TeraBox's throttling a little. Copy the download link by right-clicking our Download button → Copy link address and paste it into the manager. The link is temporary — use it within an hour or so.

Checking the file actually played before you delete the link

Before you delete the message with the link, open the downloaded file and skip to the end. A download that stopped silently can leave a file that plays for 20 minutes and then cuts off. If it's incomplete, resume from Fix 1 while the link still works.

We check one thing before every download starts: whether the share exposes the whole file or only a preview. If it's a preview, we tell you rather than let you download 30 seconds thinking it's two hours. More on downloading.

Common questions

The download finished but the file won't open.

It's incomplete (see the last section), or it's a format your player doesn't know — try VLC.

Why is the download so slow?

TeraBox throttles free-tier downloads. Nothing bypasses it; here's the honest version.

Can I download in the background on iPhone?

Safari downloads continue briefly after you switch apps, then pause until you come back. Keep Safari in front for big files.
